Our week is starting off with “Light Bites & Feeling Alright”, allowing our people to open up conversations in the office around mental health whilst enjoying a drink and snacks, whilst we also encouraging our remote based people to do the same and check in on another colleague.
 


Later on in the week we are delighted to have Caroline Hounsell running a special virtual workshop focusing on how to manage stress and anxiety. Caroline is the founder of LoveMindLife and a founding member of MHFA England, and has been supporting positive mental health and awareness since 1997. As an accredited member of the British Association Counselling Psychotherapy (BACP) Caroline draws on the experience gained through her private practice to further develop her knowledge and skills as a mental health professional. 
 


We will be rounding off Mental Health Awareness Week with a “Wellbeing Hour” giving our people back an hour of their time on Friday. This hour will give our people the opportunity to decompress and do something they enjoy outside of work. We look forward to seeing what everyone gets up too!

Every year 100,000 people have a stroke and a 1/4 of these people are under the age of 65. That’s 25,000 younger people whose lives are changed in an instant. Stroke is also the single biggest cause of disability in the UK, but it’s not always the visible disabilities that stroke survivors have to contend with, debilitating fatigue, cognitive problems and personality changes can also be a lifelong challenge, preventing them from returning to work or bringing up a young family. Different Strokes promotes independent stroke recovery, so younger stroke survivors can reclaim their lives. It’s run by young stroke survivors for other young stroke survivors.

Stephanie Whiting has just completed the whole journey a cycling a whopping 3000km which has taken her all the way from the Shire to Mordor!



Chris Wade has also completed the Shire to Bree section of the journey by running 233km!

The first two riders Thomas Hopson FPFS, MCSI & Stephanie Whiting have just completed the first 145 mile section of the journey which took then through The Shire to Bree. They are about to start the next 680 mile stage which takes them all the way to the Mines of Moria.

This year despite the route being shortened to 4km the runners were faced with an onslaught of rain but we all managed to finish and have a great time taking part. Even our furry friends got in on the act with Lola the dog becoming a bit of a celebrity.

The team was whizzing around the track in this 2.5 hour Le Mans style endurance race. Pitting their driving skills against halow patron and co-founder Damon Hill OBE, a former ‘Stig’, and British Touring Car driver, Jason Plato! We rather respectfully came 13th!



It was an amazing day made all the more sweet by the fact it raised money for the halow project an important charity that supports young people with learning difficulties to fulfil their potential through exceptional person-centred care.
