About me?

One of the key reasons I joined HFMC Wealth in June 2013 was because of the company’s ethics and values which completely align with my own and that of my clients. The integrity, consideration and support that HFMC Wealth provides are the perfect complement to its professionalism and high-calibre teams.

Beyond work, I enjoy travelling with my family, learning about the history and geopolitics of the places we visit, walking our dog and collecting Aboriginal art. Another key interest of mine is the educational system in West Africa (The Gambia) and I am personally supporting the education of some fantastic individual students as well as working on larger projects such as the establishment of a new library.

My father was a highly successful financial planner back when most people didn’t even know there was such a thing.

Growing up in a financially literate household and being exposed to some of his amazing and inspirational clients ensured I would follow in his footsteps.

More recently I spent time in San Diego over a 4 year period training with an elite group of the best financial advisers in the world in order to develop and hone a class leading service.

Outside of work

I am lucky to have great friends who enjoy good food and travel.

Skiing is a passion which my wife and two daughters share with me.

Many of my friends are clients and people who love classic cars and road trips.

About me?

After Physics with Space Science at Uni I joined a pension company. They gave me a project that turned into a department and a team of 6 to run and were really supportive. Then I passed the financial advisor exams and moved to London with my wife to start as an Advisor in 2000. That new company encouraged me for 6 great years and I realised how lucky I was to get 2 brilliant bosses on the run.

And then a third fabulous boss when I joined HFMC Wealth back in 2006; despite telling my recruitment consultant I did not want to work out of central London he insisted it was the best opportunity available and he was right. I soon took on my own team and then became a partner and have never looked back. Thank goodness I went for that lunch interview in Weybridge with Jeremy Hoyland all those years ago.

I hope I have learned from the great bosses I had to be a great boss to my own team; I can’t do what I’m good at if they aren’t doing what they are good at.

Beyond work I spend much of my time with my son, playing board games and realising he can now code way better than I can! He is trying to get me to join his fencing club so maybe I will have to update this Bio in the near future. I adore cooking and experimenting with new recipes which my wife loves but complains about the extra gym visits needed. Just don’t ask her about my bread, I’m working on it. People often say ‘I like reading’ but books are a passion not a hobby (real ones that is, not digital ones!); I always seem to buy them quicker than I can read them. And for my sins I love American Football having played at University…my team is one that continuously loses.

We are one of a handful of adviser firms which can accommodate clients who have US tax filing obligations.

We have a predominance of clients from the investment banking community, along with others from a variety of backgrounds and the common feature of most is that they are busy people, seeking to protect their wealth so as to provide sufficient liquidity during their lifetimes and to pass assets on effectively and tax-efficiently to the next generation.

About me

I am a founding partner of what is now HFMC Wealth, having joined in 1993 when we were four people working in what was little more than a shed in Walton on Thames, Surrey.
Sharing a vision with HFMC Wealth’s founder, Jeremy Hoyland, for building the UK’s wealth management practice of choice for private clients, we have managed, along with a terrific team, to enjoy fantastic growth since then by continually seeking innovative solutions to the evolving requirements of those we serve.

In 2014, I was asked to launch and develop HFMC Wealth’s international private client proposition, along with specialist international adviser, Gina Garman-Jarratt. Working with leading international legal and tax practitioners, we have been fortunate enough to enjoy sufficient success since then for the team to become the largest contributor to the HFMC Group’s revenue.
